“Monster Hunter 3 (Tri) G HD Ver.” Will Be Capcom’s First Title
for the New Wii U Game Console

– Capcom will release a version of its blockbuster game for the new Wii U game console

in accordance with its multi-platform strategy –

Capcom Co., Ltd. (Capcom) is pleased to announce that sales of “Monster Hunter 3 (Tri) G HD Ver.” for the new Wii U™ game console will begin on December 8, the same day that sales of this console start.

“Monster Hunter” is a series of hunting action games in which players go up against enormous monsters in a backdrop of spectacular scenery. Playing the game by using communications to cooperate with friends to fight powerful monsters has created a new style of communication that sparked a social event called the “Monster Hunter craze”. The number of fans has increased steadily since the first “Monster Hunter” title made its debut in 2004. The series has grown into a mega-hit with cumulative sales of more than 21 million units*1.

“Monster Hunter 3 (Tri) G HD Ver.” is based on “Monster Hunter 3 (Tri) G” (for Nintendo 3DS™), which was launched in December 2011 and has sold 1.6 million units in Japan*1. The new title for Wii U delivers the spectacular high-definition images that are possible only with the latest versions of home video game consoles. In addition, players using this new version can cooperate with each other as well as use local communications for cooperation with players using the Nintendo 3DS version. Furthermore, the new Wii U version incorporates new elements to meet the expectations of players who have been looking forward with much excitement to the introduction of this new game console. For example, save data sharing with the Nintendo 3DS version is possible in order to enable players to use the Nintendo 3DS version when away from home and then continue playing the game at home with the Wii U version on a large-screen television*2.

Nintendo plans to sell the new game and Wii U console together as the “Monster Hunter 3 (Tri) G HD Ver. Wii U Premium Set”. Capcom plans to start selling “Monster Hunter 3 (Tri) G HD Ver.” in North America and Europe in March 2013, where it will also serve as an overseas title in the “Monster Hunter” series.

Capcom’s basic strategy is to use the multi-platform approach for its games, in which each game brand is sold for several types of game consoles. By continuing to introduce titles in popular game series for many types of game-playing platforms, Capcom plans to make its brands even more powerful. To meet the high expectations of game players, Capcom will continue to utilize its advanced skills in developing games and performing basic research with the goal of creating games with characteristics that are the best possible match for each type of hardware.
