Onimusha: Way of the Sword Wins Two Awards at the Gamescom Awards 2026!
– High praise for its exceptional gameplay experience at Europe’s largest game event –
Capcom Co., Ltd. (Capcom) today announced that Onimusha: Way of the Sword won two awards at the Gamescom Awards 2026, which were announced at Gamescom 2026, a game show held from August 26-30, 2026, in Germany.
The Gamescom Awards are one of the largest European game awards, where winners are chosen from the titles shown at the game show by a jury comprised of game industry professionals and the associated community, along with voting from game players.
Onimusha: Way of the Sword is the first new title in the series in over 20 years and is scheduled for release on September 4, 2026. This title enhances the exhilarating sword-based action of the series with cutting-edge technology while also providing a compelling story and beautiful visual depictions. As a result, the title won the awards for Best Gameplay, which recognizes games that offer exceptional gameplay experiences, as well as Best Sony PlayStation Game, which is given to the overall best game for the Sony PlayStation® at Gamescom 2026.
