Monster Hunter XX (Double Cross) Scheduled for March 2017 Release!
– Brings further evolution to Monster Hunter X (Cross), which shipped 3.3 million units –

Capcom Co., Ltd. (Capcom) today announced that Monster Hunter XX (Double Cross) for the Nintendo 3DS™ is scheduled to be released in Japan on Saturday, March 18, 2017.

The Monster Hunter series consists of hunting action games that pit players against giant monsters in a beautiful natural environment. The series has sparked a social phenomenon known as the “Monster Hunter Craze” by introducing a new kind of communication style for players through cooperative play focused on hunting monsters with their friends. Since the first Monster Hunter title made its debut in 2004, the series has expanded beyond games into other media, and overall has grown into a mega-hit with cumulative sales of more than 38 million units as of September 30, 2016.

Monster Hunter XX (Double Cross) is the latest entry in the series and an evolution of Monster Hunter X (Cross) (titled Monster Hunter Generations outside of Japan and Asia), which shipped 3.3 million units in Japan.* In addition to maintaining the gameplay and world that the series is known for, as well as Hunting Styles, Hunter Arts and other new elements introduced in the previous installment, the upcoming game is planned to feature a new main monster, a powered-up Prowler Mode, and all new towns and areas, expanding on the celebrated gameplay experience. Further, Capcom’s development team is working diligently to provide game content that new-comers as well as fans of the series can thoroughly enjoy, including the ability to carry over most save data from Monster Hunter X (Cross) and a bonus in-game item for players with save data from Monster Hunter Stories—the first RPG entry in the series, which was released on October 8, 2016.

Moreover, in-line with Capcom’s Single Content Multiple Usage strategy, the series’ first animated TV show, Monster Hunter Stories RIDE ON, began airing from October in Japan. Beyond this, Capcom is actively continuing expansion of the brand via cross-industry collaborations and regional tie-ins, aiming to capture an even wider fan base for Monster Hunter.

Capcom remains firmly committed to satisfying the expectations of all users by leveraging its industry-leading game development capabilities in order to create highly entertaining gameplay experiences.
