Highly Anticipated New Entry in the Resident Evil Franchise
"RESIDENT EVIL 7 biohazard" gets January 2017 Release Date!
– Brings the horror experience to new levels as the series celebrates 20 years –

Capcom Co., Ltd. (Capcom) today announced that "RESIDENT EVIL 7 biohazard" will be released on January 24, 2017 in North America and Europe and on January 26, 2017 in Japan for the PlayStation®4, Xbox One, and Windows PC (Steam and Windows 10 Store).

The "Resident Evil" franchise features survival horror games in which players attempt to escape from mutated creatures by using a variety of weapons and other items. Cumulative sales of the games total 68 million units (*1) since the first title debuted in 1996, making it Capcom’s flagship game series. "Resident Evil 6", the previous installment in the series, shipped 6.5 million units (*2) globally, demonstrating the strong popularity of the franchise even today, 20 years after the debut of the first "Resident Evil" game.

"RESIDENT EVIL 7 biohazard" is the latest game in the series, and is focused on immersive horror with the main concept building upon the series’ roots of fear, exploration and tense atmosphere. In order to provide an overwhelming, deeply immersive horror experience, the game’s system has been overhauled from its conventional third-person perspective to a first-person perspective, and the full gameplay experience will also be available via the included PlayStation VR Mode for the PS4 version. Further, Capcom is working diligently under its robust development structure to provide the highest level of world-class horror entertainment; with the brand new "RE ENGINE", a proprietary game engine developed in-house for this title, Capcom has pushed hardware specifications to their limits to make photorealistic visuals.

Moreover, as the series celebrated its twentieth anniversary in March of this year Capcom has a number of collaborations planned: from the newest Hollywood film, "Resident Evil: The Final Chapter", slated for a January 27, 2017 worldwide release (with a Japanese release of December 23, 2016), and including the feature-length CGI film "RESIDENT EVIL: VENDETTA", scheduled for a 2017 worldwide release, Capcom is pursuing brand expansion that goes beyond the category of games.
