Capcom and Takarazuka Revue Will Present the First Musical
Based on the “Sengoku BASARA” Series
– First production by the Takarazuka Flower Troupe based on a game is expected
to further raise the value of Capcom content –

Capcom Co., Ltd. (Capcom) is pleased to announce that the Takarazuka Revue will present the musical “Sengoku BASARA” starting in June 2013, which is based on Capcom’s popular game series of the same name.

The “Sengoku BASARA” series consists of action games that are based on warlords and events during Japan’s era of the warring states. The games represent unique and revolutionary worldviews in this era while allowing players to create stylish heroes. Since the first title of this series was released in 2005, “Sengoku BASARA” has recorded cumulative sales of 3.2 million units in Japan and overseas (as of September 30, 2012). Based on its Single Content Multiple Usage strategy, Capcom is continuing to utilize this captivating perspective of the world in a broad spectrum of applications, which extend from TV animation, movies and TV drama to collaboration with local governments.

Takarazuka Revue has presented two shows based on the popular Capcom “Ace Attorney” series: “Phoenix Wright: Ace Attorney – The Truth Comes Back to Life” and “Phoenix Wright: Ace Attorney 2”. Both productions were enormous hits with the shows recording total attendance of more than 50,000. “Prosecutor Miles Edgeworth: Ace Attorney 3”, the third show in this series by Takarazuka Revue, will debut in January 2013. Takarazuka Revue is now using its close relationship with Capcom to produce a musical based on the “Sengoku BASARA” series of games.

The new production will present the life of warlords in a dramatic fashion along with the romantic touch that is the trademark of the Takarazuka Revue. The result is a show that allows the audience to enjoy an even more glamorous world of “Sengoku BASARA”. The show will feature the two top stars of the Takarazuka Revue Flower Troup: Tomu Ranju and Hana Ranno. Kei Suzuki will do the script and staging.
