“Monster Hunter Freedom Unite” reaches another milestone as it ships
4 million copies in Japan!

Capcom Co., Ltd. (Capcom) is pleased to announce that “Monster Hunter Freedom Unite” and “Monster Hunter Freedom Unite, PSP® The Best” for the PlayStation®Portable (PSP®) have shipped a combined 4 million units in Japan.

The “Monster Hunter” series are action hunting games that allow players to hunt huge monsters in lush, natural environments. This series’ unique cooperative play system allows friends to team up and hunt these huge monsters together, fostering new kinds of communication between players. The “Monster Hunter Craze” has been a powerful force in Japanese gaming.

Since its release on March 27th 2008, “Monster Hunter Freedom Unite” has ushered in ground-breaking gameplay characterized by a new style of player communication. For over 2 years, more and more users have been enjoying this new experience. The popularity of the title remains strong with progressive price cuts introduced with “Monster Hunter Freedom Unite, PSP® The Best”. With over 4 million copies shipped, it’s obvious that more and more users are finding the pick-up-and-play style of “Monster Hunter” appealing.

As of March 18th, we have begun to offer this hit title with PlayStation®Store as a downloadable title for the PSP® and PSP®go. In addition, the first spin-off in the “Monster Hunter” series, “MONHAN NIKKI POKAPOKA AIRU MURA” is scheduled for release in August. This title aims to broaden “Monster Hunter’s” appeal to even more female users by leveraging a collaboration with the SANRIO’s mega-popular ‘Hello Kitty’ character. Even better, the latest title in the series, “Monster Hunter Freedom 3”, will be released at the end of 2010, further strengthening the ever-popular ‘Monster Hunter’ brand.
