Capcom’s Resident Evil 4 receives Game of the Year and
Monster Hunter Freedom receives the Award for Best Portable Game
at the Famitsu Awards Ceremony!

Capcom is pleased to announce that our very own Resident Evil 4 was awarded Game of the Year while Monster Hunter Freedom was awarded the Best Portable Game at the Enterbrain Co., Ltd. Famitsu Awards 2005.

Famitsu Awards 2005 covers games published between January 1st and December 31st, 2005. Awards are presented for games considered the best in their respective categories after undergoing a strict judging process that consists of votes cast by game fans across Japan and a judging panel of editors from the Enterbrain Co., Ltd.’s publication and media.

The Game of the Year winning Resident Evil 4 was released on the GameCube platform in January 2005 and on the PlayStation 2 platform in December of the same year. This hit title has shipped a combined 3 million copies worldwide (as of December 31st, 2005). The upcoming Resident Evil 5 will be available for both the Xbox 360 and PlayStation 3.

Monster Hunter Freedom was released in December 2005 for the PSP® (PlayStation Portable) and more than 600,000 units have been shipped in Japan (as of March, 2006). Monster Hunter has been such a smash success that is has even helped spark PSP® hardware sales while continuing its strong sales in Japan.

As always, Capcom will keep striving to produce great new game titles and expand its appeal to a broader audience across the globe.
