can be an\ninfluencer. In this environment, in order to create hits it is essential that\nwe develop games while coordinating with our operational divisions.\nThis entails that we carry out game development with an awareness\nthat we are delivering our games to as many people around the world\nas possible via both a sales strategy that utilizes digital events to\ncommunicate effectively, and our Single Content Multiple Usage strategy\nthat utilizes movies and licensed products. Meanwhile, it remains crucial\nthat we continue to produce one-of-a-kind content that can be successful\nin the global market.\n<\/p>\n<p class=\"mT15 p\">\nCapcom aims to be the world\u2019s best game content company. It goes\nwithout saying that we are putting great effort into producing games of\nworld-class quality; however, we are also making calculated appeals to\nplayers through ongoing services. These services continuously stimulate\ntheir interest with strategic digital sales and the steady release of\nadditional content that underpins that quality in an effort to increase\nsatisfaction.\n<\/p>\n<p class=\"mT15 p\">\nOn top of the know-how that we have amassed thus far, looking to the\nfuture, we are challenging ourselves to develop quality titles that will\npioneer the next generation of games with visual technology that produces\nhigh-impact graphics as well as improved network technology.\n<\/p>\n<p class=\"mT35 p\">\n<strong class=\"iconTitle is-cooperation\">Development strategy<\/strong>\n<\/p>\n<p class=\"mT15 p\">\nBased on our medium-term goals, as the head of development, I am\nstriving to fulfill my revenue responsibilities by allocating 90% of the\ndevelopment investment budget to the creation of popular series IP,\nsuch as <em>Resident Evil<\/em> and <em>Monster Hunter<\/em>. At the same time, we are also\npromoting the development of our online ongoing services business\nmodel. This allows more players to enjoy our hallmark Capcom\ncraftsmanship over the long-term by providing additional DLC and\nother content. Our efforts to create new IPs also continue. Most recently,\nwe announced <em>Pragmata<\/em> and <em>Exoprimal<\/em> for the latest generation of\nconsoles, and we are making steady progress on their development. <\/p>\n<p class=\"mT15 p\">\nOur proprietary game development engine, RE ENGINE, is an integral\npart of Capcom\u2019s content development. RE ENGINE is an outstanding\ngame engine that not only makes it possible to develop high quality\ngames while reducing development costs, but also maximizes the\nperformance of each piece of hardware. We will continue to evolve this\nproprietary engine while remaining proactive in our approach to\nstate-of-the-art research and technology, such as VR, while aiming to\nenhance our lineup.\n<\/p>\n<p class=\"mT35 p\">\n<strong class=\"iconTitle is-training\">Cooperative approach in\nDevelopment Divisions<\/strong>\n<\/p>\n<p class=\"mT15 p\">\nHit titles are not the product of chance, but the result of each team\u2019s\ncontinued collaborative efforts.\n<\/p>\n<p class=\"mT15 p\">\nGame development at Capcom takes place on a large scale and over a\nlong period of time. Taking a project from concept to reality requires\nmore than an individual\u2019s abilities; teamwork is also a vital element.\nIn terms of technology we use RE ENGINE, and those responsible for\ntechnological research are integrated into the title development team\nto provide the optimal development environment and support for\neach title. In terms of quality, our Quality Control Division checks\nwhether titles under development operate properly while also looking\nat the fun and playability of the games. They then share their opinions\nwith the development team in an effort to improve quality.\n<\/p>\n<p class=\"mT15 p\">\n<em>Monster Hunter Rise<\/em> and <em>Resident Evil Village<\/em>, which were developed\nwithin just such an environment, exceeded our sales expectations\nand received acclaim from players. Going forward, we will continue to\nstrengthen our cooperative approach as we strive to create the world\u2019s\nbest game content. <\/p>\n<p class=\"mT35 p\">\n<strong class=\"iconTitle is-strategy\">Training developers<\/strong>\n<\/p>\n<p class=\"mT15 p\">\nPeople are at the core of creating high quality games. We are working to\nbuild a comfortable environment for our game development divisions so\nthat our creators can focus on giving their best. Since 2013, we have\nhired more than 100 developers each year, and today our development\nworkforce stands approximately 2,500 strong. However, it is essential\nthat we continue to secure human resources and hone their skills even\nfurther to sustain growth in the medium-to-long-term. Currently, we give\nnewly hired young employees the chance to acquire know-how and skills\nthrough hands-on experience in the field. We are making steady\nprogress with their training via game development experience that is\nboth rigorous and quality focused.\n<\/p>\n<p class=\"mT15 p\">\nWe have set goals and clarified milestones for training younger employees\nto expedite their development and grow the number of high performers.\nBy promoting work assignments based on the right employee for the\nright job, creating opportunities for training, and improving employee\ncompetency, we seek to strengthen our development capabilities.\n<\/p>\n<p class=\"mT15 p\">\nThis past spring, we reorganized our human resources operations in\nthe development divisions to further promote strategic investment in\nhuman resources.
