class=\"p\">\n                                We began the roll out of our full-scale digital strategy\n                                in the mid-2010s. Our major aim was to expand\n                                Capcom\u2019s content throughout the world and establish\n                                a stable revenue base, and a major part of that tactical\n                                shift is the move to digital download sales. Until that\n                                time, game publishers had primarily provided\n                                disc-based content to game users via retail stores.\n                                However, retail store sales are (1) dependent on the\n                                location of the store, and (2) subject to price protection\n                                in some countries, which means when the prices of\n                                games are reduced at a retail store, the publisher\n                                bears the loss from the amount lowered, which\n                                removed our ability to make policy-based decisions on\n                                price promotions. It was these two main points that\n                                were becoming constraints on our global expansion.\n                                In addition, disc sales required strong focus on\n                                countermeasures to combat unauthorized and\n                                pirated copies. We began shifting to digital download sales\n                                as a means of overcoming these issues and bringing\n                                game content to users throughout the world.\n                            <\/p>\n                            <p class=\"p mT15\">\n                                As a result, compared to the fiscal year ended\n                                March 2013, when our sales territory consisted of 167\n                                countries and regions, we have now expanded to 219\n                                countries and regions, and our revenue base is shifting\n                                from new releases to catalog title sales.\n                            <\/p>\n                            <p class=\"p mT15\">\n                                In the last 10 years, our business model has\n                                transitioned from B2B to B2C, and in recent years, it is\n                                transitioning to D2C (Direct to Consumer). Capcom\u2019s\n                                tactical transformation these 10 years has also followed\n                                this trend. I am adding another reading of D2C: Digital\n                                to Consumer. From\n                        there, it became the norm for gaming devices to be\n                        always online.\n                    <\/p>\n                    <p class=\"mT15 p\">\n                        Digital sales have naturally worked to strengthen\n                        anti-piracy measures, enabling long-term sales. Over\n                        the past 10 years, we have expanded the number of\n                        countries and regions in our sales territory, and at the\n                        same time, the number of titles we are selling has\n                        grown to over 300.\n                    <\/p>\n                    <p class=\"mT15 p\">\n                        We believe that there are two main factors that\n                        have enabled for this expansion.\n                    <\/p>\n                    <p class=\"mT15 p\">\n                        (1) From the time the company was established with our\n                        main business being arcade game circuit boards,\n                        Capcom had started expanding throughout the\n                        world, giving us a certain brand status.\n                    <\/p>\n                    <p class=\"mT15 p\">\n                        (2) Due to the efforts of our development team,\n                        Capcom has the technical and developmental\n                        abilities to regularly produce high-quality titles.\n                <\/p>\n\t\t\t\t\t\n\t\t\t\t\t<p class=\"mT15 p\">\n\t\t\t\t\t\tGame content declines in value over time and\n                        prices decrease. However, the decrease in price\n                        means that game content will be more accessible to\n                        people in countries and regions with different income\n                        standards.<\/p>\n\t\t\t\t\t\n                <p class=\"mT15 p\">\n                        Comparing our sales territory now with 2013,\n                        there are countries and regions where annual sales\n                        are gradually shifting from less than 100 units annually\n                        to more than 100, more than 1000, more than 100,000,\n                        and more than 1 million units. As income levels rise\n                        due to economic growth in each country and region,\n                        we will develop strategies to further expand our\n                        market.\n                    <\/p>\n                    <div class=\"contBorder\"><\/div>\n                    <a name=\"sec02\" class=\"anchorTarget\"><\/a>\n                    <p class=\"txt20 txtB mT55\">\n                        <span class=\"radiusTitle is-blue\">Measure 2<\/span><br class=\"is-sp\">\n                        Continue producing the world\u2019s best content\n                    <\/p>\n                    <p class=\"mT15 p\">\n                        Our new releases since fiscal 2016 have outperformed\n                        our sales expectations and are on the way to even\n                        greater growth.\n                    <\/p>\n                    <p class=\"mT15 p\">\n                        It goes without saying that this is underpinned\n                        by our world-class developmental and technical\n                        capabilities. We do not aimlessly start working on\n                        creating games. The process involves detailed\n                        advance preparation, understanding of user trends,\n                        repeated prototyping, and quality checks before we\n                        begin production.\n                    <\/p>\n                    <p class=\"mT15 p\">\n                        In particular, we perform repeated quality checks\n                        until just before a title is released. Additionally, we\n                        are making efforts to improve productivity with\n                        measures such as our in-house game development\n                        engine, RE ENGINE and the automation of content\n                        production. This is within a framework where the\n                        technical research division, which is responsible for\n                        fundamental technology research, development\n                        management division, and development human\n                        resources department support production.\n                    <\/p>\n                    <p class=\"mT15 p\">\n                        Since the release of <em>Resident Evil 7<\/em>, which was\n                        launched in January 2017, our titles have been\n                        exceeding our expectations in Metacritic scores and\n                    user evaluations, while also achieving sales results. <\/p>\n                    <p class=\"mT15 p\">\n                        It can be said that it is our world-class content\n                        that is enabling the long-term sales of content\n                        explained below.\n                    <\/p>\n                    <p class=\"mT15 p\">\n                        In addition to strengthening the brands of\n                        existing IP that complement the larger <em>Resident Evil<\/em>,\n                        <em>Monster Hunter<\/em>, and <em>Street Fighter<\/em> brands, which\n                        already have fans worldwide, we are taking on the\n                        challenge of creating new IPs. In order to achieve\n                        that, we have to steadily increase personnel in the\n                        development division, and we are responding to\n                        that need by continuously and proactively hiring new\n                    graduates and mid-career talent. <\/p>\n                    <ul class=\"imgGroup mT55\">\n                        <li class=\"is-65\">\n                            <img decoding=\"async\" src=\"\/ir\/english\/assets\/images\/data\/oar\/2022\/coo\/coo_cont02.svg\" alt=\"Global marketing\">\n                        <\/li>\n                        <li class=\"is-35\">\n                            <img decoding=\"async\" src=\"\/ir\/english\/assets\/images\/data\/oar\/2022\/coo\/coo_cont03.png\" alt=\"Capcom Showcase\">\n                        <\/li>\n                    <\/ul>\n                    <div class=\"contBorder\"><\/div>\n                    <a name=\"sec03\" class=\"anchorTarget\"><\/a>\n                    <p class=\"txt20 txtB mT55\">\n                        <span class=\"radiusTitle is-blue\">Measure 3<\/span><br class=\"is-sp\">\n                        Long-term sales and improved profitability\n                        in the global market\n                    <\/p>\n                    <p class=\"mT15 p\">\n                        At Capcom, one of our criteria we look at when creating\n                        games is the maximization of sales in a five-year period.\n                        Behind this is the efforts we have made over the last\n                        two years reorganizing our past sales data\u2014data\n                        which is now available for future sales projections.\n                    <\/p>\n                    <p class=\"mT15 p\">\n                        In recent years, PC platform versions have also\n                        increased their contribution to digital sales. We are\n                        now able to sell in more than 200 countries and\n                        regions, a number that far exceeds the conventional\n                        console market, and we have analyzed that there is\n                        strength in expanding sales in emerging regions, such\n                        as Asia, South America, Eastern Europe, and the\n                        Middle East. Currently, unit sales of games for PCs\n                        account for roughly 40% of unit sales, but analysis\n                        shows that there is still great potential for future\n                        growth in this area and we have designated PCs a\n                        priority platform.\n                    <\/p>\n                    <p class=\"mT15 p\">\n                        We will continue promoting these digital sales in\n                        fiscal 2022 and project achieving record high net digital\n                        sales of 73.4 billion yen. Looking to the future, there is\n                        still room for growth in pipeline expansion, long-term\n                        sales, and in global markets, and we expect the digital\n                        sales ratio to rise to a level of roughly 90% in the longterm, both in terms of revenue and\n                        volume, and we\n                        believe that the profitability of the Digital Contents\n                        Business will continue to increase sustainably.\n                    <\/p>\n                    <p class=\"mT15 p\">\n                        One positive example is the long-term sales of\n                        <em>Monster Hunter: World<\/em> (<em>MH:W<\/em>). Initially it was released\n                        for game consoles, and then a PC platform version\n                        was released, and that finally led to the release of the\n                        massive premium expansion <em>Monster Hunter World:\n                        Iceborne<\/em>. More than four years have passed since\n                        its initial release in January 2018, but as a result of\n                        maintaining the freshness of its content while gradually\n                        lowering the price and striving to expand sales, its\n                        cumulative sales volume has exceeded 20 million\n                        units*; more than half of the initial <em>MH:W<\/em> units were\n                        sold in the second year or later. However, one\n                        major advantage of eSports is the fact that we can\n                        hold alternate events online and stream them. In order\n                        to maintain our efforts to popularize eSports under\n                        the pandemic restrictions, we have implemented\n                        two main initiatives. (1) For individual competitions,\n                        the year-long world tour, CAPCOM Pro Tour was held\n                        online in 2021 in the same format as the previous year.\n                        (2) For team competitions, the domestic Street Fighter\n                        League: Pro-JP 2021 was held, increasing the number\n                        of participating teams to eight and adopting a\n                        corpoate ownership system for the first time. We are\n                        laying the groundwork for future regional franchising\n                        and the establishment of training institutions. In the\n                        U.S., Street Fighter League: Pro-US 2021 is being\n                        held online.\n                    <\/p>\n                    <p class=\"mT15 p\">\n                        In 2022, the CAPCOM Pro Tour Online 2022 will\n                        be expanded in scale with the addition of a new\n                        \u201cWorld Warrior\u201d category, while holding some events\n                        in person. Under these circumstances, it was Hollywood\n                        films, such as <em>Resident Evil<\/em>, that played a major role\n                    in the branding of our content. <\/p>\n                    <p class=\"mT15 p\">\n                        In order to be even more proactive in promoting\n                        the global branding of Capcom content going\n                        forward, we established a subsidiary film production\n                        company in Los Angeles, California in the U.S. in\n                        2022.
